Lok Sabha Election 2024: Days after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chhindwara mayor Vikram Ahake, urged people to vote for Congress leader Nakul Nath, as the constituency went to polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha election. In a video message, Ahake said that he was feeling suffocated after he joined a political party (not mentioning a name), adding that he felt like he was not doing the right thing with a person who had developed Chhindwara.
"Soon after joining a political party, I was feeling suffocated. I felt that I was not doing the right thing with a person who has developed Chhindwara. Nakul Nath always devoted himself to the constituency's betterment, be it the education sector, providing treatment to people, or carrying out development works," he said.
He also mentioned that while he is not sure what's going to be his future, he will stand with Kamal Nath and Nakul Nath today since they have done a lot for him.
"In the future, I will get a lot of opportunities to do politics. I don't know what will happen to me, if I don't stand with my leaders Kamal Nath and Nakul Nath today as they have done a lot for me. I appeal to the voters to ensure the victory of Nakul Nath (and his father Kamal Nath) with a huge margin," he said.

Vivek Bunty Sahu has been fielded by the BJP against Cogress' Nakul Nath in Chhindwara. Several senior party leaders went to the constituency to campaign for him. Chhindwara is one of the six Lok Sabha seats where elections are being held in the first round of the parliamentary elections.
The Chhindwara mayor joined the BJP on April 1 in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the state party president Vishnu Dutt Sharma in the state capital.
BJP Lost From Chhindwara During 2019 Polls
Chhindwara is the only Lok Sabha constituency out of the 29 Lok Sabha seats that the BJP had lost in 2019. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has fought and won from this seat nine times.
