New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra are around the corner and will take place on October 21 and the fate of the candidates will be decided on October 24. Since the Election Commission announced the polling schedule on September 21, the model code of conduct came into effect and the political parties in both the states have geared up in luring the voters as much as they can.
The elections in both states will take place in single-phase and the complete process of the elections will be concluded on October 27. The ongoing assembly of Maharashtra will end on November 9 while that of Haryana will end on November 2.
In the upcoming assembly elections, the number of polling stations has increased, and special security measures have been on the card for the Maoist affected regions like Gadchiroli and Gondia.
Haryana Assembly Elections 2019: Date, Full Schedule, Result Dates
The state of Haryana, has 90 assembly seats in total, out of which 17 has been reserved for the Scheduled Caste. No seats were reserved for the Scheduled Tribes though. The total number of voters in Haryana is around 1.82 crore including the 1.07 service voters, as per the records of ECI.
In 2014 assembly elections in Haryana, the BJP swept away 47 seats forming the government in the state. Manohar Lal Khattar was made the Chief Minister of the state as he is one of the senior-most leaders of BJP in Haryana. While the Congress and INLD managed to get only 15 and 19 seats respectively.

Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019: Date, Full Schedule, Result Dates
In Maharashtra, there are a total of 288 assembly seats, out of which 29 were reserved for the Scheduled Caste and unlike Haryana, it has 25 reserved seats for Scheduled Tribes also. With a total of 8.9 crores, the number of voters in Maharashtra is also way higher than Haryana, as per the records of ECI. A huge number of 3,239 candidates are contesting the elections this year.
In 2014, with the Modi wave, the BJP swept 122 seats out of a total of 288 seats, while the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won 42 and 41 respectively. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena managed to get 63 seats and formed a coalition government with the BJP, thus choosing Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister.
