West Bengal Exit Poll Result 2024: After a majority of exit polls projected a thumping victory for the BJP-led NDA government in the West Bengal Lok Sabha Election 2024, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called these projections a "sham", terming them “vague, fake, and done by BJP stooges”. She emphasised that these poll predictions were not consistent with the ground reality as they were ‘manufactured at home’ two months back.

The Bengal CM asserted that these exit polls hold no value and slammed the press for showing them. "We had seen how the exit polls were conducted in 2016, 2019 and 2021. None of the predictions had turned out to be true," she said during an interview with TV9-Bangla, which the party later posted on its official X handle.

"These exit polls were manufactured at home by some people two months back for the media consumption. They have no value," she further added.

Banerjee also accused the BJP of polarization and said, "The way BJP tried polarisation and spread false information that Muslims were taking away quotas of SC, ST and OBCs, I don't think Muslims will vote for BJP. And, I think the CPI(M) and Congress helped the BJP in West Bengal.”

This comes after the majority of exit polls including the India Today-Axis My India Exit Poll predicted that the BJP will secure 26-31 seats in the state and the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC will manage to get only 11 to 14 seats.

Several exit polls predicted the third term for the Modi government with more than 350 seats to the NDA government. While three exit polls projected that the saffron party will cross the 400-seat mark.

Meanwhile, state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar asserted that his party will secure at least 25 seats in West Bengal, but he would not be satisfied with less than 30 seats.

"When I took over as the state president two and a half years back, I had said we would cross the 25-mark in the Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal, but even many in my party did not believe me. Now, not only my party, but the press and the people of the state believe that we will get more than 25 seats," he said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
