Voting in northeast state Mizoram has been concluded on November 7. A voter turnout of 77.04 per cent was recorded in the 40-seat Assembly till 5 pm. However, in the 2018 Assembly polls, the polling in Mizoram was 81.61 per cent.

The election in the northeast state was held in a single phase.

The poll panel said people coming to exercise their franchise were allowed to cast their votes till the end of polling hour.

As many as 12 strong rooms have been set up to keep the polling machines. "We have 12 strong rooms where we will be keeping the EVMs and the strictest security measures will be taken as per the protocols of the Election Commission," Aizawl Deputy Commissioner Nazuk Kumar said to ANI 

-Voting in Mizoram started at 7 am and concluded at 4 pm

-Serchhip constituency recorded the highest (83.96 per cent) voting. It was followed by Mamit (83.42%), Hnahthial (82.62%), Khawazawl (82.39%), and Kolasib (80.13%)

-State Chief Minister Zoramthanga sought re-election from Aizawl East - I

-He arrived at the 19-Aizawl Venglai-I YMA Hall polling station to exercise his voting right but encountered a delay due to an EVM glitch

- Zoramthanga ruled out the possibility of a post-poll alliance in case of a fractured mandate. He said, “It will not be a hung assembly, it will be an MNF-ruled assembly"

-"BJP is our friend at the Centre but not here," Chief Minister Zoramthanga said while talking to the media

-ZPM also expressed confidence in getting a majority by themselves. The party leaders said even if they do not get majority numbers, they will not go with the BJP

-A total of 174 candidates were in the fray in Mizoram and their fate has now been locked in the polling machines
