This came when the Delhi Government rolled out strict measures amid choking pollution in Delhi.

"It has come to my notice that polluting vehicles are entering Delhi borders at odd hours from neighbouring states without any hindrance. It appears that no checking is being done at the borders to restrict the entry of such polluting vehicles into Delhi; requests proper checking of polluting vehicles whose entry is restricted as per Stage IV of GRAP," news agency ANI reported while quoting Gehlot’s letter to the Chief Secretary.

The National Capital Region (NCR) has been reeling under alarming pollution for the last few days. The Delhi Government implemented the odd-even vehicle scheme to curb vehicular pollution in the national capital. The schools have also been shut owing to the choking air.

In view of the poor air quality, all schools in Gautam Budha Nagar district were also directed to discontinue physical classes from pre-school to Class 9th till November 10 and conduct lessons online mode.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed displeasure over poor air quality in NCR. The apex court directed the governments of Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana to take immediate steps to curb stubble-burning incidents.
