More Of Congress’ Failure Than Success Of BJP: TMC On Assembly Elections Results

The Trinamool Congress on Sunday claimed that the BJP’s performance in the 2023 Assembly elections resonated “failure’’ of the Congress more than a success story of the saffron party. "In the three states, it is more of a failure of the Congress than a success story of the BJP," TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghost said, looking at the afternoon trends of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. 

Ghosh said that the Congress was determined to defeat the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana while claiming that they did not put enough effort into contesting in those states where they had a direct contest with the BJP.   

"TMC is the party which can provide leadership in the battle to defeat the BJP in the country," he said on the microblogging site, X (formerly Twitter) while claiming that to win the elections in these states, other parties have imbibed the welfare schemes of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Notably, Mamata Banerjee-led TMC had decided to fight the next year’s Lok Sabha elections under the banner of the INDIA coalition, which consists of 28 political parties including Congress. 

The TMC spokesperson also claimed that the results of these states will not have a major impact on next year’s Lok Sabha general elections, stating that a combined INDIA coalition will have influence.
