The polling for the Karanpur Assembly seat in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district was on Friday and after the counting of votes for the Karanpur Assembly seat Congress candidate Rupinder Singh secured victory by defeating BJP's Surendrapal Singh with a margin of 12,570 votes. Surendrapal Singh was inducted as a minister into the newly formed cabinet in Rajasthan.  

This election was postponed following the untimely demise of Congress candidate and sitting MLA Gurmeet Singh Cooner. The Congress party subsequently fielded Kooner's son, Rupinder Singh against BJP’s Surendrapal Singh TT.

Sriganganagar district comprises a total of 6 assembly seats, with results for 5 already declared on December 3. Among these, BJP secured 2 seats, while Congress claimed victory in 3. The voting for the Karanpur assembly seat, held on Friday, witnessed a turnout of 81.38 percent.

On Congress winning Karanpur Assembly constituency in Rajasthan, former CM and senior party leader Ashok Gehlot said, "This election has given several messages. The arrogance of the BJP and how they have abandoned morality, it is like a slap by the people to the BJP."

The counting process concluded at 17 counters at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Government College in Sriganganagar district, falling under the constituency. Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta informed that EVM counting transpired on 14 tables, with two additional tables dedicated to postal ballot counting, along with one for electronically transmitted postal ballots.

Surendra Pal Singh's entry into the Rajasthan Cabinet after the BJP's victory in 115 out of 199 assembly seats faced criticism from the Congress, alleging a violation of the model code of conduct.

Rajasthan Karanpur By Election Result 2024 Updates: 

- After eight rounds of counting, Congress candidate Rupinder Singh Kooner  (47930 votes) is leading against BJP's Surendrapal Singh (43128 votes) 

- After ten rounds of counting, Congress candidate Rupinder Singh is leading by a margin of 6407 votes against BJP's Surendrapal Singh.

- After twelve rounds of counting for the Karanpur assembly seat, Rupinder Singh of Congress is leading against BJP's Surendrapal Singh. [ RUPINDER SINGH KOONER - 64001 votes, SURENDERPAL SINGH- 56546 votes]

-After thirteen rounds of counting, BJP's Surendrapal Singh trails behind Rupinder Singh of Congress by a margin of 7972 votes.

- Congress candidate Rupinder Singh Kooner defeats BJP's Surendrapal Singh by a margin of 12,750 votes.
