Rajasthan Election Results 2023The counting of votes for the recently held Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana is being held today (Sunday). In Rajasthan, the BJP has won on 65 seats and is leading on 50 other seats as of 5 pm. Two-time former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje emerged victorious from the Jhalrapatan Assembly constituency.

Raje defeated her closest competitor, Congress leader Ramlal, in the fray to become the MLA of Jhalrapatan. She belongs to the Scindia family and is one of the five candidates fielded by the BJP and with links to various royal families who won in their respective Assembly constituencies in Rajasthan. Besides Raje, Diya Kumari, Sidhi Kumari, Kalpana Devi, and Vishwaraj Singh Mewar are members of various royal families who proved their mettle in the BJP's efforts towards ousting Ashok Gehlot's outgoing government in Rajasthan.

Vasundhara Raje

Vasundhara Raje is a senior BJP leader and has served twice as Rajasthan's Chief Minister so far. She belongs to the Scindia royal family of Gwalior and is an aunt' to Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Raje is the daughter of Jivajirao Scindia-Shinde, who was the last ruler of the princely state of Gwalior. She has previously served as a union minister under former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Diya Kumari

The titular princess of Jaipur, Diya Kumari, contested the recently held Assembly election in Rajasthan on a BJP ticket and won the race for the post of Vidhyadhar Nagar's MLA with an impressive margin of 71,368 votes against her closest competitor and Congress candidate, Sitaram Agarwal. The difference in their tallies stood at 71,368 votes. 

Diya Kumari is the daughter of Maharaja Sawai Singh, the adopted son of Gayatri Devi, and Maharani Padmini Devi. Diya's entry into the political arena 10 years ago was marked by her victory in the race to become the Legislative Assembly representative of Rajasthan's Madhopur Assembly constituency. She is a serving Lok Sabha MP. Diya Kumari is also being seen as one of the faces for Rajasthan's next chief minister.

Siddhi Kumari

The serving MLA of Bikaner East, Siddhi Kumari, retained her spot in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly by defeating a fray of candidates led by Congress leader Yashpal Gehlot. Since 2008, Siddhi Kumari has won back-to-back terms as the MLA of Bikaner East for the saffron party. She is the granddaughter of Maharajah Karni Singh Bahadur, the last ruler of Bikaner.

Kalpana Devi

Kalpana Devi, the wife of current titular Maharao of Kota, Ijyaraj Singh, has won from the Ladpura Assembly constituency of Rajasthan. She defeated a fray of MLA candidates led by Congress leader Naimuddin Guddu with a margin of 25,522 votes. Kalpana Devi contested election for the first time on a BJP ticket in 2018.

Vishvaraj Singh 

Vishvaraj Singh Mewar, who is a descendant of Maharana Pratap, registered his victory from Rajasthan's Nathdwara constituency in the recently held Assembly election. He defeated Congress candidate Dr. Rajkumar Sharma, who emerged as the runner-up, by 7,504 votes. Vishvaraj Singh's father, Mahendra Singh Mewar, was elected as the MP of Chittorgarh in 1989. On October 17, he joined BJP in the presence of party president Chandra Prakash Joshi and Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari in Delhi.
