"There is a complete failure on the part of the state government. On average approximately 70 to 80 names have been deleted from each booth in the central Chennai Parliament constituency...Names have been shifted. It is a new kind of malpractice which the DMK has adopted in this election to try to keep away voters they feel are going to vote for the BJP. A lot of conduct violations has happened today. We have been raising complaints continuously with the Election Commission...The police are supposed to be acting. They're supposed to be working as servants of the government, not of the DMK. So the BJP has been resisting, we've been challenging, we've been fighting it out on the field," he said.

Tamil Nadu LS Election 2024 Live News: Polling for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state ended at 6:00 PM on Friday. A total of 39 seats went into polls in the first phase of elections in the state.

On the percentage of voting in Tamil Nadu in the first phase of elections, the state Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo says, "Our voting percentage by 5 PM is average 63.20% for the state. Highest in Dharmapuri parliamentary constituency, 67.52 and minimum, 57.04% in Chennai South."

"We saw complaints from a large number of voters on their names being missing from the voters' list. This happened in many places. We are demanding re-poll in places where the names of a large number of voters were missing. We have a doubt that there was some political interference because the names of a large number of BJP caders were missing from the voters list," Annamalai said as quoted by ANI.

Their decision stemmed from a longstanding grievance regarding the lack of basic amenities in the area, which remained unaddressed by authorities.

Reports indicate that not a single voter from Kadavarahalli turned up at the polling booth until 9 am on Friday, as reported by TOI. Election department officials were quick to respond to the situation, visiting the village and engaging in discussions with the villagers in an attempt to resolve the issue.

Tirunelveli, a significant constituency among the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, is poised for an intriguing electoral battle. Tirunelveli Lok Sabha encompasses a portion of the Tirunelveli district. With six assembly segments falling under its purview, the constituency presents a diverse political landscape.

Currently, two assembly segments each are under the sway of the DMK and the AIADMK, while one each is held by the Congress and the BJP. In the fray are notable candidates such as M Jansi Rani from the AIADMK, Nainar Nagendran representing the BJP, and Dr. C Robert Bruce fielded by the Congress. Additionally, Sathya from the Naam Tamilar Katchi adds further depth to the electoral contest.

Vellore, one of Tamil Nadu's 39 Lok Sabha constituencies, lies approximately 135 km away from the state capital, Chennai. The constituency gained attention during the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections when voting was annulled due to the alleged seizure of unaccounted cash from a DMK candidate.

Vellore comprises several assembly segments, including Vellore, Anaikattu, Kilvaithinankuppam (KV Kuppam), Gudiyattam, Vaniyambadi, and Ambur.
