Telangana Assembly Election 2023: The Achampet Assembly seat is one of 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana and is part of the Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituency. It falls in Nagarkurnool district which is categorised as a rural seat. The polling of the 119-member Legislative Assembly in Telangana will be held on November 30 in a single phase while the results will be announced on December 3.

As far as the Achampet constituency is concerned, it plays an important role for Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) which formally became a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in 2022. Guvvala Balaraju, a candidate from BRS, is the current sitting MLA of the Achampet Assembly Constituency.

In the Achampet seat, there are 2,14,152 registered voters including 1,07,964 men and 1,06,168 women. In the 2018 Telangana elections, Achampet recorded a voter turnout of 81.95 per cent. In 2014 the turnout was 71.59 per cent.

Achampet Assembly Election 2018

In the 2018 Assembly election, TRS fielded Guvvala Balaraju whereas India National Congress (INC) gave a ticket to Chikkudu Vamshi Krishna. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Medipur Malleshwar while BSP chose Srinivasulu Koyyala. In 2018, the Achampet constituency was won by the TRS candidate against INC with a margin of 9556 votes.

Achampet Assembly Election 2014

In the 2014 Assembly election, Guvvala Balaraju, who fought the election on a TRS ticket, won the Achampet seat by defeating INC candidate Chikkudu Vamshikrishna with a margin of 11,820 votes while TDP candidate Pothuganti Ramulu secured the third runner up with 24,199 votes.
