Telangana Assembly Election 2023: The polling of the 119-member Legislative Assembly in Telangana will be held on November 30 in a single phase while the results will be declared on December 3. Currently, Telangana has a Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samithi government in the state.
The Malkajgiri Assembly seat is one of 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana and is part of the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency. Malkajgiri falls in Medchal Malkajgiri district and the Greater Hyderabad region of Telangana. It is categorised as an urban seat.
When it comes to Malkajgiri, this constituency plays an important role for Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Mynampally Hanmantha Rao is the current sitting MLA of Malkajgiri Assembly Constituency.
Malkajgiri Assembly Election 2018
In the 2018 Assembly election, TRS fielded Mynampally Hanmantha Rao, who is seeking another term in 2023, whereas Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave a ticket to Ramchander Rao Naraparaju. In 2018, BRS's Rao won from the Malkajgiri constituency against a BJP candidate with a margin of 73,698 votes.
Malkajgiri Assembly Election 2014
In the 2014 Assembly election, C Kanaka Reddy, a candidate of TRS won this Malkajgiri seat by defeating BJP's candidate Ram Chander Rao N with a margin of 2,768 votes. In the 2018 Telangana elections, Malkajgiri recorded a voter turnout of 53.08 per cent. In 2014 the turnout was 51.65 per cent.
