Telangana Assembly Election Date 2023: The Election Commission on Monday announced the dates for the Legislative Assembly elections that are to be held in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram, and Madhya Pradesh later this year. In Telangana, polling will be held in a single phase on November 30, the poll body said. The counting of votes will commence on December 3 and official results are expected to be declared by December 5, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said during a press conference.

As many as 3.17 crore people are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming Telangana Assembly polls, the EC announced. According to data released by the EC, women constitute half of the eligible voters in the state. Moreover, 1.77 lakh polling stations will be set up in 679 assembly constituencies across the five states where Assembly polls will be held.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi is currently in power in the state. The BRS, led by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), won 88 seats in the 2018 Assembly elections. The BJP managed to win only one seat in the 119-seat Telangana Assembly in 2018. Meanwhile, the Congress party bagged nine seats in the 119-seat Telangana Assembly.

Telangana is set to witness a triangular electoral battle between the aforementioned parties this time. None of the three parties have so far announced their Chief Minister candidate so far. However, KCR, on account of being the patriarch of the ruling BRS, is reasonably expected to continue serving as Telangana CM if his party manages to cross the majority mark of 60 seats on its own.
