Telangana Assembly Election Result: With the Congress party’s landslide victory in Telangana on Sunday, the police said that Revanth A Reddy, the state’s Congress chief, has requested security arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony which is likely to take place on either December 4 or December 9. 

Reddy, whose party was comfortably leading to cross the majority mark of 60 seats, contacted the state's Director General of Police (DGP), Anjani Kumar to arrange security preparations for the forthcoming ceremony, as reported by news agency PTI. 

The Telangana Congress chief also said that he would soon meet the Governor to discuss the government formation. He also told the DGP that several chief ministers, former chief ministers, and senior leaders from Delhi would participate in the swearing-in ceremony. 

According to the official data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Congress emerged victorious in the Telangana Assembly elections by winning as many as 64 seats. While the BRS received 39 seats, and the BJP managed to win only 8 seats. 

“The TPCC President mentioned that from today evening Muhurtam (auspicious time) will start. So, if possible, they may consider swearing-in function tomorrow (Dec 4) or they may take (oath) on December 9," a release from Telangana Police said. 

Meanwhile, the Telangana Police chief announced that senior functionaries would get a higher category of security apparatus, while each winning candidate would get 2+2 Personal Security Officers (PSOs). 

DGP Anjani Kumar also held a meeting with the Hyderabad Police Commissioner and other senior police officials and discussed the arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony. 

The Congress has emerged as the largest party in Telangana with a majority. Congress state chief Revanth Reddy is making headlines for his significant role in the election campaign. Reddy, who has reportedly established a good relationship with the party's top leadership, especially Rahul Gandhi, addressed several election rallies in a single day and emerged as a state-level leader. 

Telangana, which has 119 assembly seats, went to polls on November 30, and the voter turnout was recorded at 71.34 per cent.
