As many as 93 seats across 11 states will go to polls on Tuesday in the third phase of the high-stakes Lok Sabha polls. The fate of over 1,331 candidates will be decided in this phase of the key electoral battle. The third phase is crucial as 10 Cabinet Ministers and four former Chief Ministers are in the fray to grab a seat in the Parliament. Besides, the kin of several accomplished politicians are also trying their luck in this phase.

In the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's son-in-law is contesting from the Gulbarga Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka. Kharge won from here in 2009 and 2014 but failed to retain this seat in 2019. The fate of the sons of two former chief ministers--B.S. Yediyurappa and Kalyan Singh--will also be decided in this phase. Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, is in the political fray from the family’s stronghold Mainpuri.

Here’s a list of other key seats:

Gandhinagar Lok Sabha:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is contesting from here for the second consecutive term. He won this seat in 2019 by a thick margin of 557,014 votes. The Congress Party has this time fielded Sonal Patel from this seat. Over 14 candidates, including eight independents, have filed their nominations from here.

Guna Lok Sabha:

The BJP has fielded Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna. This seat is Scindia’s stronghold but he lost from here when Congress fielded him in 2019. The Congress turncoat is now fighting on a BJP ticket against the former’s Rao Yadavendra Singh Yadav.

Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg Lok Sabha:

Another Congress turncoat Narayan Rane is contesting from this seat on a BJP ticket. Rane is currently the Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded Vinayak Raut against him. As many as nine candidates are in the fray in this seat.

Agra Lok Sabha:

The BJP has nominated Union Minister SP Singh Baghel as its candidate from the Agra Lok Sabha seat. BSP has fielded Puja Amrohi against Baghel, while Samajwadi Party (SP) has nominated Suresh Chand. A total of 11 candidates, including three independents, are in the electoral fray in the Agra seat.

North Goa Lok Sabha:

Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik is BJP’s candidate from North Goa Lok Sabha seat. Eight candidates are in the fray in this seat.

Rajkot Lok Sabha:

The saffron party has fielded Union Minister Parshottam Rupala from the Rajkot seat in Gujarat. Notably, Rupala was in the middle of a row after making a contentious remark on Kshatriyas. As many as nine candidates are in the fray in this seat.

Porbandar Lok Sabha:

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is contesting from here on BJP ticket. As many as 12 candidates are in the fray in this seat.

Kheda Lok Sabha:

Central Minister Devu Singh Chauhan is contesting for the third time from the Kheda Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat. Against him, Congress has fielded Kalu Singh Dabhi and BSP has nominated Bhailalbhai Kalubhai Pandav. A total of 12 candidates, including three independents, are contesting the election.

Bidar Lok Sabha:

In the Bidar constituency of Karnataka, Central Minister Bhagwant Khuba has been fielded against Congress’Sagar Ishwar Khadre, while BSP has given a ticket to Putraj. There are a total of 18 candidates contesting the election here, including 10 independents.

Dharwad Lok Sabha:

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi is contesting against Congress’ Vinod Asooti. Joshi won this seat in 2019 with a margin of 2,05,072 votes. As many as 17 candidates are in the fray in this seat.

Former Chief Ministers In Fray:

Belgaum Lok Sabha:

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Jagadish Shettar's reputation is at stake on the Belgaum seat. He is contesting on the BJP ticket from here. Against him, Congress has nominated Mrinal R. Hebbalkar, and BSP has given the ticket to Ashok Appaya Appugol. A total of 13 candidates, including seven independents, are contesting the election in Belgaum.

Haveri Lok Sabha:

Karnataka’s former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Haveri on the BJP ticket. Congress has nominated Anand Swami Gaddadevaru for this seat. There are a total of 14 candidates in the field, including five independents.

Vidisha Lok Sabha:

The BJP has fielded former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat. He faces a challenge from Congress' Pratapbhanu Sharma and BSP's Kishan Lal in this seat. In Vidisha, there are a total of 13 candidates in the fray, including four independents.

Rajgarh Lok Sabha:

Former MP Chief Minister Digvijay Singh is back in the fray after 33 years in the Rajgarh Lok Sabha seat. Against Digvijay Singh, BJP has announced Rodmal Nagar and BSP has nominated Rajendra Suryavanshi as their candidate. There are a total of 15 candidates in the field, including six independents. Rodmal Nagar is the incumbent Member of Parliament from here.
