Priya Marathe, who starred in Pavitra Rishta, passed away in Mumbai on August 31, 2025. She had been afflicted with cancer for the past year. Numerous Marathi and Hindi TV series featured the 38-year-old actor. According to the HT report, she passed away at 4:00 AM at her home on Mira Road. Actor Shantanu Moghe, Priya's spouse, is her surviving spouse.

Who Was Priya Marathe?

Priya Marathe was an Indian television actor and stand-up comedian. Born in Mumbai on April 23, 1987, she completed her schooling in the city. Following her graduation, Priya entered the acting industry and quickly made her television debut in the Marathi serials Ya Sukhanoya and Char Divas Sasuche.

Priya Marathe Marathi And Hindi TV Shows

Priya Marathe portrayed Vidya Bali in Kasamh Se, her debut in a Hindi television series. She played the role of Archana's (played by Ankita Lokhande) sister in the popular television series Pavitra Rishta. She soon starred in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya in February 2017 as Bhavani Rathod. Additionally, she played Jyoti Malhotra in the popular daily soap opera Bade Acche Lagte Hain and appeared in Balaji Telefilms' Kasamh Se.

Priya Bapat portrayed Vidya Bali In the first season of Comedy Circus. She also played important roles in several other shows, including Tu Tithe Me, Bhaage Re Mann, Jayastute, Uttaran, and Bharat Ka Veer Putra-Maharana Pratap.

Aside from serials, Priya Marathe also starred in the Marathi film Ti Ani Itar and the Hindi film Humne Jeena Seekh Liya (2008).

Priya Marathe Passes Away Due To Cancer

In the meantime, actor Subodh Bhave penned a lengthy letter about the sudden demise of his cousin Priya Marathe. The emotional note on Facebook wrote, "Priya Marathe. A wonderful actress, my co-star in a few serials and films. But for me, beyond all that, she was my cousin sister. The hard work she put in after entering this field and her dedication to her craft were truly admirable. She performed every role with utmost sincerity and complete involvement."

He disclosed that Priya was diagonsed with cancer a few years prior, and she went back to work after overcoming it. "Even after fighting it, she once again returned to work. Through plays and serials, she came back before the audience with her effortless and graceful acting. But the cancer never really left her side," Subodh Bhave continued.

Priya Marathe's cousin concluded, saying, "During our serial Tu Bhetashi Navyane, her illness resurfaced once again. Throughout this entire journey, her husband @shantanusmoghe stood firmly by her side. My sister was a fighter, but in the end, her strength gave way. Priya, heartfelt tributes to you. May you find peace wherever you are. Om Shanti."
