In response to the scorching heat, the district administration has set up shade, drinking water, coolers, fans, and lemon water at polling centers. Special arrangements are in place at model booths. The health department is on alert to provide immediate assistance if needed.

The Meteorological Center Lucknow has issued a weather alert for polling day, predicting continued heat and heat waves. Varanasi's temperature on June 1 is expected to range from 43 to 45 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 28 to 30 degrees. The sky will be mostly clear, with possible heat waves from midday to afternoon and warm nights in some areas.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath cast his vote at a polling booth in Gorakhnath, Gorakhpur. In the Gorakhpur electoral race, BJP's Ravi Kishan, a renowned film actor, is competing against SP's Kajal Nishad and BSP's Javed Ashraf.

Before filing his nomination papers on May 14, PM Modi held a roadshow and addressed a Nari Shakti conference in Varanasi but did not conduct any campaign rallies in the constituency. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Union Ministers and other UP government members, campaigned in Varanasi to support PM Modi.

Prime Minister Modi, aiming for a third term in Varanasi constituency, won decisively in 2019 and 2014. previously in 2019, PM Modi won the seat by a massive margin of over 4,75,000 votes. Results for the Lok Sabha election 2024 will be announced on June 4.

The prominent candidates in the fray include PM Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Syyed Niyaz Ali of the Bahujan Samaj Party, and Ajay Rai of the Samajwadi Party.
