Aamir Khan recently celebrated 25 years of his iconic film Sarfarosh. Fans continue to hail Sarfarosh as one of his standout films. The actor graced a special screening of this action-packed thriller in Mumbai, joined by co-stars Sonali Bendre and Naseeruddin Shah. At the gathering, Aamir delved into the distinctiveness of his portrayal as a police officer, highlighting how it diverged from typical cop roles seen in movies, while also revealing a lingering regret associated with the role.

During the event, Aamir revealed that he was really disturbed about one thing while shooting the film. He was in continuity with a couple of other films at that time and couldn't cut his hair as short as he wanted for the role. This bit disturbed him a lot, and even today when he watches the film, he wishes, "Can’t we redo these scenes?" Luckily, his character was supposed to be in plain clothes, so they tried to pull it off.

He also highlighted the distinctiveness of his character compared to industry norms, emphasizing the film’s authenticity. Police officers have expressed admiration for the realism and depth of the film, which underscores the strength of the script and John Matthew Matthan as a director in balancing realism with excitement and thrill.

Sarfarosh centred on the struggle of an Indian police officer against cross-border terrorism, earning accolades for Aamir’s depiction of Ajay Singh Rathod in opposition to the antagonist Gulfam Hassan, portrayed by Naseeruddin Shah. The movie was honoured with the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
