Dua Lipa recently gave fans in Mumbai a thrilling surprise when she performed a mashup of her hit Levitating with the classic Bollywood track Woh Ladki Jo from the 1999 film Baadshah. The mashup, originally created by DJ Ruchir Kulkarni, quickly went viral, sparking excitement, especially among Shah Rukh Khan fans. However, not everyone was thrilled with the performance, particularly singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
Abhijeet, who sang Woh Ladki Jo, voiced his dissatisfaction over the lack of credit given to the original creators of the song. In an interview with News18, he emphasized that Dua Lipa should have acknowledged the team behind the track, including composer Anu Malik and lyricist Javed Akhtar. He described Woh Ladki Jo as one of Anu Malik's finest works, saying, “It is his life’s greatest song.”

Despite his concerns over credit, Abhijeet made it clear that he wasn’t particularly concerned with who Dua Lipa is or whether she credited him or not. He noted, “I don’t care who is Dua Lipa. She can take my name or not, but when she performed it on stage, I was flooded with calls. The song was popular before, and it’s popular even today.” He further explained that the song’s popularity was already established, and the performance only made it more well-known.
Abhijeet’s son, Jay Bhattacharya, also took to Instagram to express his disappointment that the original artists were not mentioned. He pointed out the common trend in India where actors get more attention than the musicians behind the songs. In his post, Jay wrote, "Why has it always been about actors in this country?" He also noted that Dua Lipa likely heard the song but did not recognize the artists who made it iconic.
While Abhijeet doesn’t seem overly concerned about receiving credit, he posted his own version of the performance on Instagram, featuring visuals of Dua Lipa alongside footage from his own live performance of the song.
