Netflix's British drama web series Adolescence has been winning the hearts of the audience across the globe. The show consists of four episodes, which focus on a 13-year-old boy who has been accused of murdering her female schoolmate. Adolescence starred Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller has received wide recognition for his performance in the show. The actor stated that he hasn’t watched the series yet, as he does not like to see himself on screen. He further shared that his show Adolescence going for school screenings is his nightmare.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Owen said “I still haven't watched it either. I just don't like watching myself. And now Jack says it's going into schools... that's my worst nightmare!”
“I was glad I didn't have any idea of what was going on -- the emojis and the meanings behind them. I had no clue. And I don't think my friends knew, but it's obviously happening across the country. It's not a made-up story,” he added.
Earlier in an interview with Rolling Stones, Graham talked about the global effect of the British show. He said, “I got a text from a mate of mine, telling me how big Adolescence is in India. And my first response was, ‘Hold on, did you say India?! Did I hear you correctly?’ Apparently, it’s really striking a nerve there.”
Adolescence also stars Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters, Faye Marsay, Christine Tremarco, Mark Stanley, Hannah Walters and Jo Hartley in key roles. It has been directed by Philip Barantini and created by Jack Thorne, Stephen Graham. The show has been written by Jack Thorne, Stephen Graham and produced by Jo Johnson. Adolescence streaming on Netflix on March 13.
While sharing a glimpse of the series, Netflix UK wrote on Instagram “a child accused, all unfolding in one unflinching, real-time shot. from Boiling Point creator Philip Barantini and starring Stephen Graham, ADOLESCENCE premieres this thursday.”
