The trailer for Sara Ali Khan's upcoming movie, 'Ae Watan Mere Watan', has been released, giving audiences a glimpse into the film's storyline set against the backdrop of India's Quit India Movement in 1942. The film, inspired by real events, focuses on the story of unsung heroes during a crucial period of India's fight for freedom.
Sara Ali Khan plays the role of Usha, a character whose underground radio system becomes a significant symbol of the Quit India Movement. Ahead of the film's release, the makers have unveiled a song from the movie titled 'Julia.'
'Julia', sung by Divya Kumar and Shashi Suman, composed by Shashi Suman, and penned by Prashant Ingole, offers a quirky and upbeat composition with endearing lyrics that capture the essence of first love. The song's classic touch on soulful vocals transports listeners to a simpler time.
The film's trailer introduces us to Usha, a 22-year-old college girl in Bombay, who plays a crucial role in India's struggle for independence by establishing an underground radio station. Through Usha's journey, the trailer highlights the courage, sacrifices, and resourcefulness of the youth during India's fight for freedom.
Apart from Sara Ali Khan, the film also features Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O'Nell, and Anand Tiwari in pivotal roles, with a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi. Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, the patriotic thriller-drama is a Dharmatic Entertainment production directed by Kannan Iyer, who also co-wrote the film with Darab Farooqui.
Emraan Hashmi shared his thoughts on working with Sara and Kannan, saying, "To essay the role of a political leader amid India's freedom struggle has been an honour. This is my second film with Kannan, who brings a unique sense of purpose to this story. It is also my first film with Sara, whose performance will undoubtedly leave the viewers in awe. I am excited that with Prime Video, a story as poignant as this will reach a global audience."
The film is set to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and stellar performances, promising to be a cinematic experience that celebrates the unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle.
