After Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, Sunny Deol’s Border 2 Banned In Six Gulf Countries Over ‘Anti-Pakistan’ Content

Border 2 is off to a great start on the first day of its release. The predictions stated that the movie may earn somewhere between Rs 32 crores and Rs 35 crores on its opening day. But it has already faced a roadblock after the movie failed to find a release in Gulf countries. Before Border 2, Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar also faced a ban in six Gulf countries due to its 'anti-Pakistan' themes. Now, the war drama is also facing the same hurdle.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, "Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE will not be releasing Border 2. By now, it's a given that films perceived as having anti-Pakistan content don’t get a release in this belt." The overseas distributors confirmed that the ban in the six countries may result in a significant financial setback.

Dhurandhar Ban In Gulf Countries

Before Border 2, Aditya Dhar directed spy thriller movie Dhurandhar was also banned in the same six Gulf countries due to the movie’s anti-Pakistan content. Despite the ban, the Ranveer Singh starrer emerged as a massive success and earned a gross collection of Rs 1289 crores.

Dhurandhar and Border 2 were not the only movies to face this ban. In 2024, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's Fighter also faced an initial ban in all Gulf countries except the UAE. The major reason behind this was the portrayal of the Pulwama attack.
