Diljit Dosanjh is currently gearing up for his forthcoming highly-anticipated movie Jodi Teri Meri. But, now a local court has stayed the release of the respective flm, which was all set to hit the theatres on May 5, that is, this Friday.
According to a report in IANS, the Court of Civil Judge (Junior Division) Karandeep Kaur ordered to issue summons to Dosanjh, actor Nimrat Khaira, Gurmail Kaur wife of late singer Amar Singh Chamkila, Karaj Gill from Rhythem Boys Entertainment Private Limited and Daljit Thind from Daljit Motions Films returnable by May 8.
The order came weeks after another court in Ludhiana had stayed the broadcast, release and streaming of another biopic on the couple, titled Chamkila. The court's order stated, "From the documents, a prima facie case is made out in favour of plaintiff (Ishdeep Randhawa). Balance of convenience is also in his favour and if defendants are not restrained from releasing the film Jodi Teri Meri, then an irreparable loss will be caused to the plaintiff, which cannot be compensated with any cost."
"Accordingly, defendants are hereby restrained from releasing the film on May 5 except in due course of law till next date of hearing (May 8)," added the order.
For the unversed, on March 8, 1988, at about 2 PM, renowned singers and couple, Chamkila and Amarjot, came to perform in Mehsampur, Punjab. As they got out of the car, they were shot to death. The couple and several members of the group were tragically wounded as a group of motorbike riders opened fire with numerous bullets.
