South star Akhil Akkineni’s latest release Agent witnessed a major drop in its collections on Day 4 of its release. The film clashed at the box office with Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 and has performed underwhelmingly.

Agent Box Office Collection Day 4

On Day 4 of its release, Agent collected Rs 0.94 crore in Telugu. The film has overall collected Rs 6 crore on Monday. In India, Agent box office collection stood at Rs 9.8 crore (nett). Worldwide, the film’s collection stood at Rs 11.8 crore.

Agent Cast

The cast of Agent features Akhil Akkineni in the lead role alongside Malayalam superstar Mammootty. The film also marks the Telugu film debut of Bollywood actor Dino Morea. Sakshi Vaidya and Vikramjeet Virk also feature in pivotal roles in the film.

Producer Anil Sunkara Apologises For Agent’s Poor Performance

Producer Anil Sunkara took to social media platforms to apologise for Agent’s box office collection. Taking to Twitter, the filmmaker wrote about taking the entire blame for the film.

“We have to take the entire blame for #Agent. Though we know its an uphill task, we thought of conquering but failed to do so as we did a blunder starting the project without a bound script & innumerable issues including covid followed,” Anil Sunkara wrote on Twitter.

The producer further added, “We don't want to give any excuses but learn from this costly mistake and see how we can turnaround to make sure, we will never repeat the mistakes. Our sincere apologies to all those who put trust on us. We will make it up for the losses with dedicated planning & hardwork in our future projects.”

Several social media users commented on the tweet by Anil Sunkara. One user wrote, “Hatsoff sir.  🙏🙏🙏. These days hardly any producer accepts failures in public. I wish u learn from mistakes and all the best sir for upcoming projects. I believe u will come back stronger with commercial blockbusters very soon.” Another comment read, “Admirable courage in embracing failure, as a financier you've tacitly expressed that monetary allocation relies more on pairings than narratives, significantly impacting Tollywood. This revelation ought to prompt reflection among all, best wishes for future projects.”
