Akhil Akkineni’s recently released Agent has been performing underwhelmingly at the box-office. The film is struggling due to a tough competition against Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2, which was released on the same date; April 28, 2023.

Agent OTT Release Date

According to reports, after the lukewarm response received by the film at the box office in its first few days, the makers of Agent have locked its OTT release date. The film will be making its digital debut sooner than most other film releases.

While the majority of theatrical releases debut on OTT after 4-6 weeks of its cinematic release, Agent will be making its digital debut within 3 weeks. Reportedly, the film will be released on digital streaming giant Sony LIV. Agent will reportedly begin streaming from May 19, 2023, however no confirmation or denial about the news has been made by the makers yet.

Agent Box Office Collection

Reports indicate that Agent has so far collected nearly Rs 10 crore. The film opened to a good response at the box-office and collected nearly Rs 6 crore on Day 1 of its theatrical release, but failed to keep up due to the mixed response received by the box-office.

Agent collected Rs 1.6 crore on Day 2, Rs 0.88 crore on Day 3, Rs 0.53 crore on Day 4 and Rs 0.43 crore (approximately) on Day 5, taking its total box office collection in India to Rs 9.83 crore (approximately).

Talking about the film, producer Anil Sunkara took to his Twitter account to take the blame for the poor box office reception of Agent. “We have to take the entire blame for #Agent. Though we know its an uphill task, we thought of conquering but failed to do so as we did a blunder starting the project without a bound script & innumerable issues including covid followed,” the filmmaker wrote via the microblogging site.

The producer added, “We don't want to give any excuses but learn from this costly mistake and see how we can turnaround to make sure, we will never repeat the mistakes. Our sincere apologies to all those who put trust on us. We will make it up for the losses with dedicated planning & hardwork in our future projects.”
