Ajay Devgn has released the teaser for his upcoming period film Azaad, set in pre-Independence India, which captures a family’s emotional bond with their loyal horse. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, known for his work on films like Kai Po Che! and Kedarnath, Azaad stars Ajay alongside his nephew, Aaman Devgan and Raveena Tandon's daughter, Rasha Thadani, in key roles.
In Azaad, Ajay Devgn plays a master horse rider who shares a close connection with his horse. The film’s story unfolds with Ajay's character bravely confronting the English armies, riding across breathtaking landscapes and escaping dangerous situations. However, amidst the chaos, the beloved horse goes missing and Aaman’s character takes on the mission to reunite with the family’s loyal companion.
The teaser also provides a glimpse of Rasha Thadani’s character, who portrays a young woman from a wealthy family. While her appearance in the teaser is brief, it hints at an opulent lifestyle, adding another layer to the film’s period setting.

For fans of Ajay’s iconic 2004 film Tarzan: The Wonder Car, Azaad evokes a sense of nostalgia. While Tarzan featured Ajay’s character returning as a ghost to protect his son, Azaad follows a living character who teaches the younger generation about loyalty and bravery, as reflected in the bond with their horse.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, Azaad is set for a January 2025 release. Sharing the teaser on social media, Abhishek Kapoor wrote, “Har jung mein, har bahadur yodha ke saath, ek wafadaar ghoda zaroor raha hai.” This line captures the essence of the story—a reminder of the significance of the horse in historical battles, symbolizing loyalty and companionship.
Rasha Thadani, set to make her Bollywood debut with Azaad, previously shared her admiration for her mother, Raveena Tandon. She spoke about her mother’s influence, noting that she values her guidance not just as an actor but as a mentor who has handled fame with dignity. “My mom’s guidance is invaluable to me, not because she’s an actor, but because she’s my mom… She always has my back,” said Rasha, highlighting the strong bond with her mother that she brings into her own career.
