Akhil Akkineni’s 'Agent' has been in the headlines since it hit the theatres. The movie, also starring Mammootty in a key role, was all set for its OTT release on September 29, this month. Now, a day ahead of it, the court has issued an order preventing the movie from being streamed on the OTT platform Sony LIV. 

In a recent development, Battula Satyanarayana, the distributor for the movie 'Agent' in the Telugu states with the Vizag distribution rights, has initiated a legal action against the film's producer, Anil Sunkara. The distributor claimed that the agreed-upon terms of making the film available in all designated areas were not upheld, and his request for a refund has been left unaddressed. As a result of these allegations, the court has issued a stay order preventing the film from being released on OTT platforms.

This is not the first time that the film has faced a delay. After its flop box office report, the movie faced different hurdles, including its delay on OTT. Earlier, the movie’s theatrical release was also postponed several times before finally hitting the big screens.

Directed by Surender Reddy, 'Agent' also stars Mammooty, Dino Morea and Sakshi Vaidya. The film was shot in foreign countries as well as Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Manali, and was reported to have cost Rs 40–50 crores, if not Rs 70–80 crores.The movie created a lot of hype amongst the audience ahead of its release, unfortunately, 'Agent' became a box office failure and also received negative reviews.

On the sixth day at the box office, Agent reportedly made more over Rs 1 crore. It brought in Rs 10.55 crore (about) in India after earning Rs 5.95 crore on day 1, Rs 1.6 crore on day 2, Rs 0.88 crore on day 3, Rs 0.53 crore on day 4, Rs 0.43 crore on day 5, and Rs 1 crore (roughly) on day 6.
