Akshay Kumar and Richa Chadha have reacted to the horrific video of two women paraded naked by a mob and then gang-raped in Manipur that has sparked nationwide outrage on Wednesday night. People are evoking calls for strong action against the perpetrators and have demanded instant action.
Bollywood also waded into the online protests demanding harsh punishments with actors Akshay Kumar, Richa Chadha, and Renuka Sahane expressing their concern over the state of lawlessness in the Northeastern states with Meiteis and Kukis having clashes with each other since the beginning of May.
On Wednesday, Akshay Kumar took to Twitter demanding justice and wrote, "Shaken, disgusted to see the video of violence against women in Manipur. I hope the culprits get such a harsh punishment that no one ever thinks of doing a horrifying thing like this again."
Recently, Sanjay Dutt also took to his Twitter and expressed concern. The actor wrote, "The video portraying violence against women in Manipur was shocking and sickening. My utmost hope is for the culprits to be punished with the utmost severity, sending a clear message that such despicable actions will not be tolerated in any circumstance."

On the other hand, Richa Chadha wrote on Twitter, "Shameful! Horrific! Lawless!". Actress Urmila Matondkar also questioned the silence of the government and wrote, "Shocked, shaken, horrified at Manipur video and the fact that it happened in May with no action on it. Shame on those sitting on their high horses drunk with power, jokers in the media boot-licking them, and celebrities who are silent. When did we reach here dear Bharatiyas/Indians?"
Writer Kanika Dhillon also expressed disappointment on Twitter. She wrote, “Manipur! @unwomenindia @NCWIndia! This horrific act against #Kuki women…. Hope they get some justice!”

Actress Renuka Sahane also came forward and pointed out to the government's failure to control violence and wrote, "Is there no one to stop the atrocities in Manipur? If you are not shaken to the core by that disturbing video of two women, is it even right to call oneself human, let alone Bharatiya or Indian!"

Meanwhile, Comedian Vir Das also tweeted and said, "Asking for a friend. How many conclaves and summits do the people of Manipur need to sponsor before the mainstream media will cover them on prime time?"
When horrific incidents occur make no mistake, through the system, our leaders are IMMEDIATELY aware. When months later videos go viral, twitter is aware. If leaders only then respond, it’s to twitter, not horrific incidents. They care about online outrage, not real people.

Social media platform Twitter is flooded with massive outrage over the delayed action on this matter. Hashtags of 'Manipur Violence' and 'Enough is Enough' are trending on Twitter.
Police said that a complaint was filed last month of abduction, gang rape, and murder against the unknown armed miscreants. Union Minister Smriti Irani also tweeted about this situation and said that an investigation is underway.
