Sivakarthikeyan is enjoying the success of Amaran, his most recent movie. The Tamil actor discussed his career and experiences in the industry while attending the current International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. Sivakarthikeyan disclosed he 'almost' went into depression after his father's death in 2017. He also talked about how he got through this challenging time.

At the age of 17, Sivakarthikeyan's father, a jail superintendent, lost his life while performing his job in the early 2000s. The actor thanked his followers for their steadfast support, recognizing them as the pillars of strength that enabled him to get through this difficult time, according to News18.

Sivakarthikeyan said "After my father passed away, I almost fell into depression. But work saved me. The applause and cheers from my audience became my therapy." 

This is not the first time Sivakarthikeyan has mentioned his father. Paying an emotional tribute to his father at the 'Amaran' success meet, he recalled, "I remember polishing his shoes, placing his badge on the uniform, helping with belt hook, everything. I wanted to be like him in Amaran. I know he will be happy now, hearing all the applause and cheer."

About Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran

Amaran's box office receipts have exceeded Rs 300 crore. The Tamil film, which is based on the lives of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan and his wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese, became Sivakarthikeyan's highest-grossing work to date.

Amaran is an adaption of the book series India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes, written by Rahul Singh and Shiv Aroor. Major Mukund won the Ashoka Chakra posthumously after passing away in 2014 while participating in a terrorist operation. THhe film hit the big screens on October 31.
