Netflix has acquired the OTT rights for the film Amaran for a staggering Rs 60 crore. Following the typical pattern of South Indian films on the platform, Amaran is expected to premiere on Netflix within four weeks of its theatrical release, likely in the last week of November. The film will be available in multiple languages, expanding its reach to a broader audience, according to Filmibeat.

Amaran, the latest Tamil-language biographical action-war film, brings to life the inspiring story of Major Mukund Varadarajan, played by Sivakarthikeyan. Alongside him, Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, and Rahul Bose deliver captivating performances. The film is an adaptation of Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book series "India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes", which dedicates a segment to Mukund's remarkable journey.

Announced in January 2022 under the working title Sivakarthikeyan 21, marking the actor's 21st lead role, the film's official title was revealed in February 2024. Principal photography commenced in May 2023, with filming locations including Kashmir, Chennai, and Pondicherry, wrapping up after a year. The cinematic experience is elevated by G. V. Prakash Kumar's music composition, CH Sai's cinematography, and R. Kalaivanan's editing.
