2024 action-thriller movie Monkey Man, directed by Dev Patel, premiered at South by Southwest and was later released in North America by Universal Pictures. The film, made on a budget of $10 million, earned $28 million globally and received positive reviews. However, the release date of Monkey Man has been delayed in India, but the audience have found out an alternative. Here’s how:

Monkey Man Leaked Online

After its release on April 5, ‘Monkey Man’ was quickly pirated, with illegal websites spreading links to watch and download the movie for free. This piracy affected the film's earnings at the box office, despite positive word-of-mouth. The movie is available to watch on pirated websites Tamilrockers, Filmizilla, Torrent and more.

‘Monkey Man’ had its global debut at the South by Southwest festival on March 11, 2024. A few weeks later, on April 2, the film premiered in Sydney, with lead actor and director Dev Patel attending alongside his partner, Australian actress Tilda Cobham-Hervey. The film was then released across Australian cinemas on April 4. The following day, on April 5, 2024, ‘Monkey Man’ was launched in theaters in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, distributed by Universal Pictures.

The release of the film in India was initially planned for April 19, 2024. However, it faced delays due to concerns from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India, which suggested that edits might be necessary before the film could be shown.

According to a report from Bollywood Hungama dated March 31, the movie had not yet received certification from the CBFC. Film critic Siddhant Adlakha, writing for both IndieWire and Time, speculated that the film’s delay in India could be attributed to its violent content and political themes, which might have been contentious for the certification board.
