Bigg Boss 17 fame Ankita Lokhande has reportedly declined an offer to star in the upcoming web series Student of The Year 3, produced by Karan Johar. Known for her roles in Pavitra Rishta and the film Swatantra Veer Savarkar, Lokhande was approached for a role in the highly anticipated web series but has chosen not to be a part of the project. The third instalment of the Student of The Year franchise will feature Shanaya Kapoor in the lead role.

A News18 report reveals, "Yes, Ankita was approached for Student of The Year 3. I am not sure about the role she was offered, but she was definitely asked if she could be a part of the SOTY franchise. However, she has rejected the offer and nobody knows the reason behind her decision."

Meanwhile, Ankita Lokhande's role as Amrapali in the eponymous web series to be directed by Sandeep Singh was recently announced.  

Karan Johar will be launching Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, in the OTT space with Student of The Year 3. The web series is expected to stream on Disney+ Hotstar. Johar recently announced that Kapoor's film debut will not be in Bedhadak, but she will instead be launched in Mohanlal's pan-India film Vrushabha.

As per Hindustan Times, while discussing Student of The Year 3 at the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh, Karan Johar revealed that Reema Maya, known for Nocturnal Burger, will direct the web series. Johar emphasized that Maya's direction will bring a unique perspective to the series, saying, "Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student of the Year. But it will be her way and definitely not mine because if I’ll enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series."

Student of the Year was originally released in 2012, introducing Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra. The franchise expanded with Student of the Year 2 in 2019, which launched Ananya Pandey and Tara Sutaria alongside Tiger Shroff. Now, with the upcoming web series, the high school drama franchise continues to evolve.
