Nearly 15 years after the film's release, Annu Kapoor has shed light on this aspect in a recent interview, offering a fresh perspective on the filming experience. Annu Kapoor said in a conversation with ANI, “Mujhe to pata nahi usne kya kaha kya nahi kaha, lekin simple si baat hai ki agar market me charcha ho rahi hai, news ban rahi hai, to seedhi baat hai ki agar mai hero hota to Priyanka Chopra ko koi apatti nahi hoti. Hero ko chumne me kisiko apatti nahi hoti. Wo to mai hoon, na shakal hai na surat hai na personality, islie problem hai." (If the thing became such a big talking point among fans and media, then it is obvious that if I were a hero, she might have agreed to do the scene as an actress doesn't hesitate to kiss the film's hero. Maybe I lack the looks and personality for the same).”
Vishal Bhardwaj's 7 Khoon Maaf, released on February 18, 2011, garnered widespread critical acclaim, with Priyanka Chopra's tour-de-force performance receiving unanimous praise from reviewers. The film's commercial success was equally impressive, grossing Rs 33 crore (US$4.0 million) from its box-office run, television, music, and home video rights, nearly doubling its production budget of Rs 15 crore (US$1.8 million).
