Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly recently filed a defamation suit against her stepdaughter Esha Verma for maligning her public image. Esha is the daughter of Ganguly’s husband Ashwin K Verma from his first marriage. She earlier accused the star of breaking her parent’s marriage and also alleged that Rupali had given ‘strange’ medications to her father. Now, the actress has taken legal action against Esha and demanded compensation of Rs 50 crore for damaging her image. Lawyer Sana Raees Khan has been leading the case on behalf of Rupali.

The official statement by Sana Raees Khan’s team read “We have issued a defamation notice to her stepdaughter in response to her false and damaging statements as Rupali Ganguly firmly stands against the use of defamatory tactics for Publicity and she has taken this legal step to protect her reputation from unfounded claims. These baseless allegations were clearly intended to harm Rupali Ganguly’s reputation and capitalise on her public standing. Such actions have not only caused emotional distress but have also unfairly tarnished her personal and professional integrity.” 

The controversy sparked earlier this month when an old post from Esha’s Facebook went viral on social media. The post was actually shared in 2020 where she alleged that Rupali is ‘controlling’ and ‘abusive’. Not only that she further went onto state that the actress made death threats to both her and her mother.

Notably, Rupali Ganguly tied knot to Ashwin K Verma in 2013. They also have an 11-year-old son named Rudransh. The actress has been maintaining a dignified silence on the same. But, her legal action clears everything out. Currently, she is seen in the popular show Anupamaa. Which has been running successfully since 2020.
