Anurag Kashyap Slams CBFC: Anurag Kashyap recently expressed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cannot prevent people from being offended. During a conversation with News18, the director highlighted the controversy surrounding the treatment meted out to 'OMG 2' by the CBFC. The board granted an A certificate to 'OMG 2,' contrary to the first preference of the producers for a U/A certificate. The film starred Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Akshay Kumar in significant roles.

Addressing the controversy, Anurag said, "This is something one has to deal with. Censor ko lataad padi na uss picture ke liye (the CBFC faced backlash for that movie). People blasted them. The true intention of a film will reach the audience one way or the other. You cannot stop people from feeling offended. Faltu log faltu cheezein pe kahan bhi offend hote hai (Useless people get offended by anything and everything). They need to work on their system. They are so weak and thin-skinned that they get offended by anything."

Before the film received its certification, multiple reports indicated that the CBFC was exercising additional caution to prevent a situation like what occurred after the release of 'Adipurush' earlier this year. Following its release, 'Adipurush' faced significant protests, leading the makers to edit and modify certain dialogues in the film that had already hit theatres.

After weeks of speculation, the filmmakers of 'OMG 2' ultimately secured an A certificate for the film, despite earlier indications that they were aiming for a U/A certificate.

About OMG 2:

Amit Rai helms 'OMG 2,' where Yami takes on the role of a lawyer, while Akshay returns to his divine portrayal from the original 'OMG.' In the 2012 release, he essayed the character of Krishna, and in the latest instalment, he continues as God's messenger. 'OMG 2' made its way to theatres on August 11, with a central theme of advocating the significance of sex' education in educational institutions.

About OMG:

Umesh Shukla's first instalment, 'OMG - Oh My God!,' was released in 2012 and starred Paresh Rawal alongside Akshay. In the film, Paresh portrayed a businessman who took on God in a legal battle after an insurance company declined to compensate for the damages to his shop, which had collapsed due to an earthquake. The insurance company labelled it as an 'act of God'.
