Bollywood’s renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has gained fame for making cult movies like Gangs Of Wasseypur, Black Friday, Ugly, Dev D, Raman Raghav 2.0 and Masaan. Apart from his cinematic vision, the director’s personal life was always the talk of the town. Anurag got married twice in his life, once to editor Aarti Bajaj and later got hitched to actress Kalki Koechlin. Both of his marriages failed due to some unknown reasons but he still managed to maintain a healthy friendship with them.

Recently, when his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap encountered him about his third marriage and to have a child, Anurag quipped that he is too old now.

During Aaliyah’s podcast Young, Dumb & Anxious, Anurag said “I have realised that I am not a relationship person. I can’t because I am obsessed with my films, my work, and the kind of films I make. I would have been very good in relationships if I had been born in Europe and made films there. Because there is a royalty system. Because the money would keep coming in. But here, there is no royalty, there’s no system like that. So I have to make more films at a higher frequency as compared to someone who is working with a big star, who is making one film in five years.”

Aaliyah also expressed her desire to her father that she always wanted to have a sibling after her parents got a new partner in life. She said, “I just want a sibling. Since I was a kid, I was an only child. I thought since you and mom are divorced, both of you will date different people, and I will get at least one sibling from one of you.” Anurag replied, “Your father has become old for that now.” She also asked him about his marriage plans, to which the director said, “I don’t think so.”

On the work front, Kashyap has last directed a neo-noir thriller film Kennedy, which premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. Kennedy also featured Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone in the lead.
