Anushka Sharma's highly anticipated cricket drama Chakda Xpress, based on the life of India's legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, has reportedly come to an unexpected halt. The filmmakers have finished shooting the movie, but it is said to be currently stalled as the producers are looking for a suitable release platform.

The biopic, which marks Anushka Sharma's return to the big screen after a long hiatus, had generated significant buzz for portraying the inspiring journey of one of India's fastest women bowlers. The movie was initially expected to release on Netflix in October 2023, with the plan to drop it just before the World Cup. However, when mid-September came, there were no announcements from the team, and no sign of a promotional campaign, which made it clear that something was off.

There are rumours that Chakda Xpress ran into trouble because of creative differences and budget concerns between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz, the production company behind the film. These reported issues have cast uncertainty over the movie's release, leaving everyone waiting in limbo.

Reportedly When asked, Jhulan Goswami herself admitted she’s in the dark about the movie's status. "Mereko aisa koi news nahi hai, aur call mujhe kar rahe sab! Mujhe koi comment nai karna," she told Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma has been keeping busy with her kids- Vamika and Akaay. She recently penned a heartfelt note as Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket. "They’ll talk about the records and the milestones — but I’ll remember the tears you never showed, the battles no one saw, and the unwavering love you gave this format of the game," she wrote in an emotional instagram post.

The biopic, Chakda Xpress is scripted by Abhishek Banerjee, directed by Prosit Roy, and produced by Karnesh Sharma under the banner of Clean Slate Filmz. The movie features Anushka Sharma, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Renuka Shahane, Anshul Chauhan, Koushik Sen, and Mahesh Thakur. The movie portrays the life of Indian woman cricketer Jhulan Goswami and her struggle.

The fate of Chakda Xpress is still uncertain, and there is no information on the release of the movie. Fans of Anushka Sharma and Jhulan Goswami will be crossing their fingers that the film somehow finds its way to theaters or a streaming platform soon.
