Oscar-winning AR Rahman has left his fans in shock after the announcement of his separation from his wife, Saira Banu, after 29 long years of marriage. As this is a challenging time for the couple and their family members, the music maestro's daughter, Raheema, has requested privacy.

AR Rahman’s daughter, Raheema, took to her Instagram story to share her thoughts on her parents' divorce. She wrote, “I would greatly appreciate it if this matter would be treated with the utmost privacy and respect. Thank you for your consideration."

Not only Raheema, but Rahman’s other daughter, Khatija, also posted a statement on her Instagram story, stating, “We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding."

On Tuesday, Saira Banu shocked everyone with the announcement of her separation from Rahman, nearly three decades after they first got together.

In a statement issued by Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, on Tuesday evening, it was revealed that she and renowned music composer AR Rahman had made the difficult decision to separate, bringing an end to their long-term marriage.

“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband, Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them—one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs. Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life,” the statement read.

AR Rahman Breaks Silence on Divorce

On Wednesday morning, AR Rahman took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and posted, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.” #arrsairaabreakup

AR Rahman married Saira Banu in 1995, and together they have three children: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
