Fans are reacting to the use of hashtags while expressing emotions on such a sensitive topic. AR Rahman used '#arrsairaabreakup' in his message. An X user wrote, "Who creates hashtag for this situation? Fire your admin, thalaiva." While other fans have poured in messages of love and support. A fan wrote, "Long journey... Heavy hearts...Stay strong brother... Music heals everything... I pray for both of you."

The couple, who had an arranged marriage in 1995, has three children: two daughters, Khatija and Rahima, and a son, Ameen Rahman. In past interviews, Rahman shared that his mother played a key role in arranging his marriage to Saira. He confessed that, due to his busy schedule at the time, he hadn’t had the chance to search for a bride himself. Rahman said that he asked his mother to find him a "simple" woman who wouldn't disrupt his work, so he could continue pursuing his music.

While the announcement has shocked many, it also highlights the pressures that even long-term relationships can face. As Rahman and Saira move forward separately, they are both asking for understanding and respect from the public.
