Following his earlier criticism of Arshad Warsi’s remarks about Prabhas’ role in Kalki 2898 AD, Telugu actor Nani has now expressed regret over his choice of words. Nani apologized and acknowledged Warsi's celebrated performance in Munna Bhai MBBS, which he praised as highly entertaining both in the north and across the country. Warsi’s comments about the film have stirred controversy, with actor Sudheer Babu denouncing the 'joker' comment. Nani had previously suggested that Arshad Warsi's remarks were receiving excessive attention, labeling the issue as overblown and emphasising that it was an insignificant matter being given undue prominence.
Let's dive deep into this controversy:
What Arshad Warsi said?
The actor recently appeared on Samdish Bhati's podcast, Unfiltered by Samdish, where he expressed his dissatisfaction with Kalki 2898 AD. While he lauded Amitabh Bachchan’s performance, he criticised the lead actor Prabhas, describing his character as resembling a 'joker.' Arshad stressed, "Maine Kalki dekhi, mujhe toh nhi acchi lagi. (I watched Kalki. I didn't like it.)... Amit ji was unbelievable."
"Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he... he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of it? Why do they do such things I never understand)," he added.

Soon after Arshad's comment went viral, Sudheer Babu, called out the Bollywood actor and wrote, "It's okay to criticize constructively but it's never okay to bad-mouth. Never expected the absence of professionalism from Arshad Warsi. Prabhas' stature is too big for comments coming from small minds."
Telugu actor Nani earlier slammed Arshad
At a press conference for his new film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, Nani suggested that Arshad Warsi's derogatory remarks about Prabhas were giving Warsi more attention than he has ever received before. He responded, "The person that you’re referring to, this must be the most publicity he has got in his life. You are unnecessarily glorifying an unimportant matter."
Nani Revises His Critique of Arshad Warsi
In an interview to Mid Day, Nani backtracked on his statement and added, "Definitely, my choice of words was also poor. The biggest thing that you can do is accept your regret. But what I am also saying is that it sounds so bad when it’s translated. In this situation, the journalist was constantly trying to bring that question everywhere, and I was trying to say that they are giving it too much importance. Sometimes, emotions are strong and you will react to something and you might feel, ‘It was unnecessary, why did I react?".
"I had only heard what he had commented because the cut clips were all over social media, just like mine was everywhere yesterday. When it’s about someone you love dearly, you naturally react and say, ‘Why give so much importance to an unimportant matter?’ But after seeing the reactions, I went back and watched the entire interview. Now, I understand it. The whole thing has been blown out of proportion by the media and social media, and my reaction was blown out of proportion too."
Also, Nani acknowledged Arshad Warsi's popularity and remarked, "Arshad Warsi ji is a very good actor and we all loved him in Munna Bhai, not just north or south, but the whole of India. It's a household movie. When we sit with our friends in our homes, we can rip films and actors apart. But being actors, we need to be extra careful with our choice of words. So, in that way, him and me, both are victims."
