Arshad Warsi recently opened up about the controversy around his ‘joker’ remark on Prabhas. The actor earlier said that the South superstar was like a joker in Kalki 2898 AD. After this comment, he was immensely trolled by Prabhas’ fans for days. However, the Kalki actor chose not to respond on the matter. After more than a month, Arshad clarified his statement and said that he was talking about Prabhas’ character in the film and not him as a person.
During the media interaction on the green carpet of IIFA 2024, Arshad said “Everybody has their own point of view and people like to interpret noise. I spoke about the character, not the person. He (Prabhas) is a brilliant actor and he has proved himself again and again, and we know about it. And, when we give a bad character to a good actor, it's heartbreaking for the audience.”
Earlier in a chat with Samdish Bhatia for his podcast, Arshad said “Prabhas, I am really sad, why was he… he was like a joker. Why? I want to see a Mad Max. I want to see Mel Gibson over there. Tumne usko kya bana dia yaar. Kyu karte ho aisa mujhe nahi samajh mein aata (What have you made of it? Why do they do such things I never understand).”
Reacting to the same, Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin tweeted, “Let's not go backwards..no more north-south or bolly vs tolly..eyes on the bigger picture.. United Indian Film Industry..Arshad saab should have chosen his words better..but it's ok..sending buji toys 4 his kids..il work hard so tweets fdfs that prabhas was the best ever in k2.”
