After Gurucharan Singh's recent meeting with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Modi, it has come to light that the former, who played Sodhi, requested the latter to reinstate him in the popular sitcom. Reportedly, Gurucharan urged the producer to bring him back to the show, citing that the new actor playing 'Roshan Singh Sodhi' was not resonating well with the audience. Gurucharan even proposed that Modi address the media about his return, but the latter declined. With this, it has been confirmed that old Sodhi is not returning to TMKOC.
According to Times Now Digital, Gurucharan pressed Modi to reinstate him on the show, arguing that fans were not receptive to the new actor playing Roshan Singh Sodhi.

On Gurucharan's return, the duo met at Modi’s Mumbai office. The actor later spoke to Indian Express, explaining, "When I was away, Asit Kumarr Modi sent me a message asking me to call him." He added, "After my return, I made sure to meet everyone who reached out to me. Since he has played a significant role in my career, it was important for me to see him."
Asit Modi too spoke about their meeting and stated, "For me, Sodhi is like my family. He was associated with us for a long period of time. After leaving the show for personal reasons, he used to come to meet me whenever he used to visit Mumbai. I was worried about him for what he did sometime back and out of concern I messaged him. He visited our office today and we had a heart-to-heart conversation today and gave him best wishes for his future."
About Gurucharan Singh
Gurucharan Singh was well-known for his role as Roshan Singh Sodhi on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, where he portrayed a jovial and party-loving character who openly expressed his affection for his wife. As one of the show's original and popular cast members, Singh left the series in 2013 but made a comeback the following year due to popular demand. However, after his departure in 2020, he was replaced by actor Balwinder Singh Suri.
In April of this year, Gurucharan went missing, prompting his family to file a police report. The Delhi Police dedicated significant resources to locate him, and after 26 days, the actor resurfaced, explaining that his disappearance was due to spiritual reasons.
