Zubeen Garg’s Death Case: Police will not be able to 'join the dots' if Assamese, who were on the yacht when singer Zubeen Garg died in Singapore, join the investigation, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He suggested that Assamese in Singapore should be pressured by the people of Assam to send those involved here. The Assam CM told reporters, "Our entire concern now is whether the people living in Singapore will come or not. If they do not come, we will not be able to complete the inquiry. They were the main people behind the yacht trip."

Zubeen Garg's bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami asserted in official records that the singer was 'poisoned' in Singapore. He claimed that Shyamkanu Mahanta, the event organiser, and Siddharth Sharma, Zubeen's manager, had 'deliberately chosen a foreign venue to conceal their conspiracy.'

"Assam Police cannot go to Singapore, so it cannot take up the investigation there. They (Assamese community people) are in Singapore, and it is not under my jurisdiction. Unless they come there, nobody will be able to join the dots," Assam CM shared. A few members of the Assam Association, Singapore, were given notice by the state CID, which is looking into the singer's death, to appear before it by October 6.

"Their parents stay in Assam. So, we, the people of Assam, must put pressure on the parents to ask their wards to come here for the probe,” the CM added.

Shyamkanu Mahanta has been the target of over 60 formal complaints throughout the state, along with about ten other people, including his manager Siddharth Sharma and band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amrit Prabha Mahanta. All four of these people have previously been placed under police remand for a period of 14 days.

The Assam CM stated that a lot of topics will be discussed throughout the probe when questioned about allegations that Goswami, the drummer for Zubeen Garg, told the police that the singer was poisoned.

Assam CM Hemant Sarma emphasised that one accused person, not the police, made the poisoning statement. "On October 10, the viscera report will come. So, we will come to know on October 11 what actually happened. But the police’s duty is to note everything in the case diary," he said

Assam CM continued, "Now, why has he made that statement? Is it to safeguard himself or to blame someone else — these things will be revealed during the investigation."
