Gautham Karthik-starrer 'August 16 1947' has been released on the streaming platform after its theatrical run. The movie revolves around Paraman and his struggle against the brutality of British general Robert Clive against his villagers.

'August 16 1947' is streaming on Prime Video from May 5, 2023.
Apart from Gautham Karthik, the movie also stars Pugazh, Revathy Sharma, Richard Ashton and Jason Shah. It is written and directed by NS Ponkumar and produced by AR Murugadoss, Om Prakash Bhatt, Narsiram Choudhary, and Vakil Khan Under the banner of A. R. Murugadoss Productions, Purple Bull Entertainment, and God Bless Entertainment.
Announcing the news, Gautham said, "What happens when the right person comes into your life? Most people would say that you would be filled with love the moment you set your eyes on them, your stomach will feel like there are butterflies flying around inside your heart would sing for joy etc...etc..."
He added, "@manjimamohan, our journey has been different for sure, lol. We started by always pranking each other, always bickering and arguing about the silliest of things. Even our friends couldn't stand our arguments. But little did I know that you were creating a bond, a beautiful bond between us."

On the work front, Gautham Karthik was last seen in 'Pathu Thala' along with Silambarasan TR, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Anu Sithara, Teejay Arunasalam, Kalaiyarasan and Redin Kingsley.
'Pathu Thala' is the remake of the Kannada film 'Mufti' which stars Shiva Rajkumar in the lead role. Mufti was one of the highest-grossing movies in Shivarajkumar's career and was a huge hit. Moreover, a prequel of Mufti has also been announced and it is titled Bhairati Ranagal. The shooting of the prequel started in March 2023.
