The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city on Tuesday, following which the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) directed the closure of all schools, colleges, and offices, while encouraging work-from-home arrangements. Severe waterlogging after incessant rainfall slowed traffic movement in Gurugram. The city reeled under heavy showers on Monday as continuous downpours crippled normal life, causing widespread flooding and traffic gridlocks.

In Delhi, the IMD forecast cloudy skies with moderate rain on Tuesday, with temperatures ranging from 22 Degree Celsius to 31 Degree Celsius. The Yamuna crossed the danger mark at 205.68 metres, flooding low-lying areas like Yamuna Bazaar. Authorities warned levels could rise to 206.50 metres by evening as water continued to be released from Haryana’s Hathnikund barrage, prompting evacuations and flood alerts for vulnerable areas.

Gurugram Traffic

Many parts of Gurugram faced severe waterlogging on Monday after hours of continuous rain.

Flooding was reported at Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, Narsinghpur stretch on NH-48, IFFCO Chowk, and sectors 29 and 31.

Traffic moved at a snail’s pace on Golf Course Road and MG Road due to knee-deep water.

Authorities advised residents to avoid flood-prone areas during peak hours and consider alternate routes or work from home.

Heavy rains caused major traffic snarls, especially on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.

Commuters were stuck for hours, with office-goers, buses, and two-wheelers struggling to navigate flooded roads.

Gurugram Routes To Avoid

Heavy waterlogging was reported at Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, the Narsinghpur stretch on NH-48, IFFCO Chowk, and sectors 29 and 31. Traffic crawled on Golf Course Road and MG Road as knee-deep water disrupted movement. Authorities advised residents to steer clear of these low-lying areas during peak hours and use alternative routes or work from home.
