Delhi-NCR Weather

Continuous rainfall on Monday turned Delhi-NCR roads into water channels, causing severe traffic jams, long commuter delays, and disruption of office routes and emergency services.

The IMD forecast predicts intermittent rain to persist until September 5, driven by an active monsoon phase and a strong western disturbance impacting both the Himalayas and the plains.

Temperatures dipped, with Monday’s maximum at 30.8 Degree Celsius and the minimum at 23.7 Degree Celsius; Tuesday is expected to see around 31 Degree Celsius during the day and 22 Degree Celsius at night.

Rescue Operation In Flooded Areas

The Army’s Western Command is carrying out extensive relief and rescue efforts in flood-hit regions of Jammu, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. Since the operation began on August 16, troops have saved over 5,000 people and delivered more than 21 tonnes of relief supplies to those in need. The mission is supported by 20 aircraft, including Advanced Light Helicopters, Mi-17s, and Chinooks.

Weather Update Across Country

The weather in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand has turned dangerous, prompting red alerts in southern Himachal districts and orange alerts in several parts of Uttarakhand. Authorities remain concerned about landslides and sudden swelling of rivers.

A low-pressure system is forming in the Bay of Bengal, with cyclonic circulation and a trough line likely to stretch from Rajasthan to Odisha-Jharkhand, expanding rainfall intensity to new regions.

Heavy rain is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and West Bengal from September 2.

Authorities are on high alert for flash floods, landslides, waterlogging, poor visibility and infrastructure damage; people are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution in low-lying or hillside areas.
