Bae Suzy may soon be gracing our screens with a new Kdrama. On July 30, media outlets reported that Suzy is in talks to star in the upcoming mystery thriller Delusion (literal title). Suzy's agency, Management SOOP, confirmed the news, stating, “It is true that Suzy received an offer to star in Delusion and is currently reviewing the offer.”

Delusion is based on a webtoon and is set in 1935 Gyeongseong and 1800s Shanghai. The story revolves around artist Yun Yi Ho, who is commissioned to paint a portrait of the mysterious woman Song Jung Hwa. As he stays at her hotel, he becomes entangled in a web of mystery and intrigue. 

The drama is directed by Han Jae Rim, known for his work on The Show Must Go On, The King and Emergency Declaration. The production is backed by Showbox, which holds the intellectual property rights to the project.

Suzy was the first actress to receive a casting offer during the planning stages of Delusion. However, she had to decline initially due to scheduling conflicts. With the production period adjusted, she has been approached again to play Song Jung Hwa, a mysterious vampire woman. If Suzy accepts the role, it promises to be an exciting addition to her already impressive portfolio.

Earlier this year, Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol were offered roles in Delusion. However, both actors withdrew from the project following their breakup news in March. This led to renewed interest in Suzy for the lead role.

Suzy’s recent movie Wonderland did not perform as expected at the box office, making her next project highly anticipated. Known for her versatility, Suzy has portrayed dark and alluring characters before, such as in the Netflix series Doona! Her potential role as a vampire in Delusion could showcase her exceptional acting skills.

Director Han Jae Rim is celebrated for his work on Netflix’s The 8 Show and the disaster film Emergency Declaration. Delusion will depict a captivating tale set across two historical periods, combining elements of mystery and thriller genres. The story of Delusion involves artist Yoon Yi Ho, who finds himself increasingly captivated and ensnared by the secrets of the vampire woman he is commissioned to paint. As mysterious events unfold, the narrative promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
