Shafin Ahmed, one of the renowned Bangladeshi band artists, took his last breath at a hospital in Virginia, United States, on Wednesday (local time). He was also the former frontman of the legendary Bangladeshi band Miles. The musician died due to heart and kidney failure as per the Bangladesh Band Music Fans Community (BBMFC).
His wife Nahin Ahmed shared the news with Jago News and said that he passed away due to a heart attack. As per the report, Shafin had to perform in a concert in Virginia on 20th July but it was cancelled after he fell ill suddenly. The musician was then suddenly admitted to the hospital and was placed on life support. He passed away under the treatment.
Born on 14th February 1961, he started his musical career at the age of 9. He took his training Nazrul Sangeet. Shafin started inclining towards Western music as he studied in England. He later joined ‘Miles’ which became a leading musical group in the country.
Shafin Ahmed’s songs that can be relished by his fans are Phiriye Dao, Jonmodin Tomar, Jala Jala, Dukkho Srote, What In Tarnation, Chand Tara Shoorjo, Bhulbona Tomake, Amar Shathei Thako and Bloody Bars - Drilluminazione, Shey Kon Dorodia, Chad Tara, Shesh Thikana, Shohor Theke Dure and Shopno Bhongo to name a few.
The musician joined a political party named Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) in 2017. Later, he joined the Jatiya Party in July 2018 and was then appointed as vice chairman in the party in 2021.
Shafin also released some popular solo albums such as Tomakey in 1987, Pagla Ghonti in 1998, Chobi Ar Sritigulo in 1999, in 2001 Best of Shafin Ahmed, Kotodin Dekhina Tomay in 2006, Virus in 2006, Harano Shukh in 2007 and My Love Songs in 2010 to name a few.
