Bhool Bhulaiyaa, directed by Priyadarshan and released in 2007, is a psychological horror-comedy and a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu. The film boasts a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, and Amisha Patel. Following its success, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released, directed by Anees Bazmee and written by Aakash Kaushik and Farhad Samji. This sequel stars Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu, and centers around Ruhaan Randhawa, who pretends to be a fake psychic to confront the return of Manjulika, a vengeful spirit targeting the Thakur family. Now, the franchise is set to continue with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
In an exciting development for fans, Vidya Balan, who portrayed the iconic character Manjulika in the original film, will be returning for this installment. The film’s ensemble cast is further enhanced by Triptii Dimri along with Sanjay Mishra and Rajpal Yadav. The poster shoot featuring Kartik and Vidya has been completed, and the film is slated for a Diwali release.

According to Pinkvilla, Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan are working on the first look posters for the film. "The principal shoot of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is wrapped up and the post-production work is going on in full swing for a Diwali 2024 release. The team is shooting for special posters today, which will be launched in a fortnight. Bhushan Kumar and Kartik Aaryan have decided on a 45-day marketing campaign for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and are confident to take the audience on an entertaining ride this Diwali."
"The script has a lot of Diwali elements, which is the reason why the makers are targeting to bring the horror comedy during the festival period. Once the assets are launched, the audience too will get a glimpse of the flavour that the film has to offer," they added. If reports are to believed, the film is stated to release on November 1, next year
About Bhool Bhulaiyaa
The plot centers around a lavish ancestral mansion that is rumoured to be haunted. When a young couple, played by Shiney Ahuja and Vidya Balan, moves into the mansion, strange and eerie events begin to unfold. Vidya Balan's character, Avni Chaturvedi, gradually begins to exhibit erratic behaviour, which leads to fears that the house might be cursed. To unravel the mystery, the family enlists the help of Dr. Aditya Shrivastav, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, a renowned psychiatrist who specialises in treating such paranormal disturbances.
