BLACKPINK member Jennie has made her big acting debut with 'The Idol' and fans are over the moon. However, 'The Idol' has been receiving criticism for its highly sexualised portrayal of the characters and certain scenes. In the first episode, Jennie has a sensual dance sequence and it has been receiving mixed responses as well.

Talking about her acting debut, Jennie said, “It’s overwhelming, but I’m grateful and thankful. All of those things at the same time. Especially as it’s the first step in my acting career, I was honoured to be able to come.”

She added, “It was an opportunity to just be myself and be brave. I didn’t really train for it, or prep anything...Sam wanted me to just be myself.”

'The Idol' revolves around a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who enters into a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol. It is set against the backdrop of the music industry. The show stars The Weekend and Lily-Rose Depp in the lead role.

The series also stars Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria.
