BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has set the internet abuzz as new stills from her highly anticipated Kdrama Newtopia were released on December 10. The Coupang Play series, a zombie apocalypse drama, has been generating immense buzz for months. In the latest teasers, Jisoo and her co-star Park Jeong Min are seen sharing a heartfelt embrace, offering a rare glimpse of intimacy amidst the chaos fans expect from the genre.
Fans were quick to react to the stills, which showcase Jisoo and Jeong Min’s characters in what appears to be a tender flashback moment. A fan exclaimed, “Btw, this means we will be getting some flashback scenes as well, and we can see Jisoo in other outfits too, not just that red sweater.” Another wrote, “Jisoo and Park Jeong Min in a new teaser of Newtopia. The series, written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Han Jin-won (Parasite) and Ji Ho-jin (Shopping Mall), follows Lee Jae Joon (Park Jung Min), a soldier grappling with his future and Kang Young Ju (Jisoo), an ambitious engineering graduate eagerly awaiting her boyfriend’s military discharge. Their love story takes a dramatic turn when a viral outbreak plunges Seoul into chaos, turning people into zombies.

The new stills stand in stark contrast to the survival-driven narrative fans anticipated. The warm, emotional moment between the leads hints at a layered storytelling approach, combining romance and the high stakes of a zombie apocalypse.
The stills mark the first significant update about the drama in months and fans couldn't be more thrilled. Many have expressed excitement about the depth of the characters and the potential for flashbacks that could explore their relationship before the outbreak.
With filming reportedly complete, Newtopia is set to debut in 2025. Directed by Yoon Sung Hyun (Bleak Night), the series promises a gripping narrative with emotional depth, further amplified by Jisoo and Park Jeong Min’s performances.
